As the story of our world unfolds, Australian Associated Press records the milestones and captures the mood of the moment … all day, everyday.

AAP staff photographers and affiliates around the country, and photo agency partners around the world create a diverse collection of images, which are stream-fed in real time to media and corporate customers.

More than 1500 news, sport and feature photographs are offered daily, feeding an archive of more than 1.7 million digital images.

AAP's news image service is managed within AAP's real-time newswire service - a logical connection between story and photograph - to ensure relevance and timeliness.

AAP photographers attend major international events where Australian interest is intense, such as the Olympic Games, to ensure the Aussie angle is in the frame.

The world picture service draws on the Associated Press (AP), European Pressphoto Agency (EPA) and Agence France-Presse (AFP). These images are delivered via satellite to the AAP Image site in real time.

And while you won't see our photographers shooting from behind the bushes or stalking celebrities, you will see us on the red carpet, at the awards ceremonies and the after-parties for the rich and famous.
